People data markers

These markers give details of the people involved: the matter’s Fee Earner and assistants, its clients and other stakeholders, and the person a document or email is sent to or from. For how to read the tables, see Built-in data markers.

Contacts can also hold your organisation’s own custom contact fields. These appear alongside the built-in markers in the data marker list, but they’re specific to your organisation, so they aren’t listed here.

Every other person on the matter is reached through stakeholder markers. These depend on the stakeholder groups set up on your matter templates, so the pattern is the same for every organisation even though the names differ.

stakeholder.<group> reaches the people in one of the matter template’s stakeholder groups, such as Buyer or Purchaser’s Solicitor. The group’s name is written in lower case, keeping only the letters a to z: Buyer’s Solicitor becomes buyerssolicitor, and any digits are dropped too.

stakeholder._<type>, with an underscore, reaches every stakeholder of one type, whichever group they’re in. For example, stakeholder._lawyer covers the lawyers from every lawyer group on the matter.
