Getting started

Home page overview V2

The InTouch homepage provides a single place to manage and create your matters.

To reach the InTouch home page you can either:

  • Select ‘Matters’ in the left hand toolbar
  • Select the InTouch logo in the top left corner

To open a new matter, select ’+ Matter’ in the left hand corner of the InTouch home page.

The search bar allows you to search for existing matters by:

  • Any stakeholder’s:
    • Forename
    • Surname
    • Organisation name
    • Email address
    • Phone number: type at least its first nine digits, using only digits and spaces. Typed in the usual national form, such as 07700 900123 or 0412 345 678, it also finds the number saved with a country code (+44, 0044 or +61), brackets or spaces, and a mobile number saved without its leading 0
  • The matter’s address
  • The matter’s reference
  • The matter’s ITR code
  • The matter’s GUID

To find matters by their sticky note, select Advanced, then choose Sticky Note:

  • Contains: type a word to find the matters whose sticky note includes it. It also finds the word inside longer words, so call finds recall
  • Does Not Contain: find the matters whose note doesn’t include the word, including matters with no sticky note
  • Is Set or Is Not Set: find the matters that have a sticky note, or whose note was never added or was removed

Search for a single word rather than a phrase. The note is searched as it is saved, with its formatting, so a phrase with formatting part-way through, such as one word in bold, or one that runs across a line break, may not be found. Words with symbols or accented letters, such as &, £ or é, may not be found either. Avoid very short words, which can match the note’s hidden formatting instead of its text.

The sticky note can’t be shown as a column.

Make use of filters to restrict the matters that are displayed. Choose to filter by:

  1. State: A specific matter state
  2. Matter Template: A specific matter template
  3. Assigned: Matters assigned to a specific team, Fee Earner or Assistant

Select ‘Columns’ in the right hand corner of the homepage to choose the matter information that is displayed within the homepage. You can select up to 16 data points, including the value of the matter’s recorded time from the Time Recording group.

The client column shown by default is Primary Client Display Name. It shows the client’s name surname first, such as “Tasker, Harry Renquist”. For a client with no name, such as a company, it shows the organisation name, and failing that the email address. Sorting by it puts your clients in surname order, with companies sorted among the surnames. An Advanced search on Display Name matches the name as it is shown: with Contains, “Tasker” or “Tasker, Harry” finds Harry Renquist Tasker and “Harry Tasker” does not. Primary Client Full Name is also available, but is blank for a client with no name. If you had chosen Full Name before Display Name was added, it was swapped for Display Name in the same place; choose it again in Columns if you prefer it.

Select Options, the cog button in the right hand corner of the homepage, to customise your homepage further, then Confirm:

  1. Matters Per Page: Choose 10, 20, 50 or 100 matters on each page. Your choice is remembered in the browser you made it in, so it stays the next time you open InTouch there
  2. Open matter tab: Choose the tab a matter opens on, wherever you open it from: Automatic (Tasks, or the Folder when the matter has no tasks), Folder, Data or Accounts. A matter with no ledger or invoices opens on Tasks instead of Accounts. This choice is saved to your account, so it follows you to any browser

Above the list, on the right, InTouch shows how many matters you are looking at, for example “Showing 1-20 of 44 matters”, or “Showing 12 matters” when they all fit on one page. When a search finds more than one page of matters, InTouch may not count them on the first page, to keep the search fast. The count then reads “Showing 1-20 of many matters”. Move to the next page to see the total. Without a search, the first page shows the total straight away, whichever filters you choose.
